ARTISTS 2022

TRIBULATION (Sweden)

Swedish Tribulation has crowned success around the world since the release of their 3rd full-length “The Children of the Night” (2015). The band was actually booked for the House of Metal festival already in 2015 but unfortunately had to cancel on short notice due to crashing with a US tour together with Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse and Aeon. Now, however, this Grammy-winning band will enter the Idun scene during this year’s festival to offer their distinctive mix of Gothic metal colored by both the Black and Death metal scene.

DREAM EVIL (Sweden)

In 2007, the Heavy/Power Metal band Dream Evil inaugurated the first edition of the House of Metal festival with the song “The Book of Heavy Metal”, a song that has become a bit of a signum/anthem for this band. On the festival’s 15th edition, we have therefore once again invited the band, but this time to end the 15th edition of the festival on the Idun stage.

NAGLFAR (Sweden)

Naglfar are Black Metal-veterans that formed as early as 1992 in Umeå and that have since then released seven full-length albums, where “Cerecloth” (2020) is the latest in the line. Naglfar visited House of Metal on the more intimate Studion stage back in 2016, but now it’s once again time to show up on the big stage where the band last played in 2013. This will be the band’s first gig since the release of “Cerecloth” (2020) due to the pandemic, so a bit of a release party in other words.

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA (Sweden)

The Night Flight Orchestra is a Swedish progressive hard rockband from Landskrona founded in 2007 by Soilwork members Björn Strid and David Andersson. The group also includes Sharlee D’Angelo (Arch Enemy, Spiritual Beggars, ex-King Diamond), Jonas Källsbäck (Mean Streak) and Sebastian Forslund (Kadwatha). During their career, the band has managed to release six albums between 2012–2021. We are talking about some world-class Progressive Rock/AOR that broadens the musical this year’s festival perfectly from a musical spectrum!

ELEINE (Sweden)

The symphonic metal-band Eleine last visited Umeå in 2017 and then as support to none other than the legendary W.A.S.P. The band will go on a European tour with Finnish Sonata Arctica in 2022, but before that it is time for the band to enter the Idun stage again during this year’s House of Metal. Highly recommended for fans of bands such as Within Temptation, Nightwish and others.

AEON (Sweden)

Aeon, the Swedish kings of Technical Death Metal the American way, return to House of Metal after 9 years. This with their new album “God Ends Here” (2021), the fourth in a row released by non-less than classic Metal Blade Records. Prepare for a pure anti-Christian blast of Death Metal, where no prayers are enough to ward off this death platoon from Östersund.

THYRFING (Sweden)

Thyrfing can easily be counted as one of the older (if not the oldest ?!) Viking/Black Metal bands from Sweden. The band has since 2007 been fronted by the former Naglfar singer, Umeå-raised son, Jens Rydén and they did a fantastic gig during House of Metal 2014. With the fresh full-length “Vanagandr” (2021), it is time again for the band to set sail to the Studio stage at Umeå Folkets Hus once more.

HORNDAL (Sweden)

Horndal is a relatively new, but already strong, name in the metal scene. The band’s second full-length “Lake Drinker” was released during 2021 on none other than Prosthetic Records (1349, Testament, Skeletonwitch, Venom Prison and other great acts). In terms of genre, Horndal is a rather mixed bag of Sludge, Hardcore and Heavy Metal with some progressive elements.

MOLOKEN (Sweden)

Moloken is a metalband from northern Sweden that was formed in Umeå in the autumn of 2007 with the intention of creating progressive music with the basic structure of the metal. Inspired by the 90’s Death, Doom and Black Metal scene together with 70’s progressive rock, they have in a short time managed to create a unique sound and their own musical approach. The gig during this year’s House of Metal will also be one of the first with an audience for the band’s latest release “Unveilance of Dark Matter” (2020) which was released in the middle of the pandemic.

FERAL (Sweden)

Feral, with their roots in Norsjö, started back in 2003 and has since then refined their HM-2 Death Metal to great heights. The band was booked for the 2020 festival but unfortunately had to cancel at short notice, so of course they will get another chance. With three full-length albums in the baggage, the latest in the form of “Flesh for Funerals Eternal” (2018), it is finally time for this Northern band to return to a stage at the festival which they last visited in 2008.

WARFECT (Sverige)

DAEMONICUS (Sweden)

Daemonicus was formed in 2006 and has since then released a bunch of demos as well as a couple of EP:s and three full-length albums. The latest in the row released by Västerbotten-based label Black Lion Records in August 2021. The musical backbone of Daemonicus is based on the classic Swedish HM-2 Death Metal sound, a sound that made itself known already in the 90’s thanks to bands such as Dismember and Entombed, just to name a few. However, Daemonicus is not afraid to mix in more melodic elements in their sound compared to many other of today’s HM2-death metal bands.

SCITALIS (Sweden)

Scitalis is one of the new local Black Metal bands to the local Umeå-scene. The band has been active since 2020 and released their debut EP “Awakening” in March 2021 through Vendetta Records. Scitalis sound is not directly reminiscent of the classic Scandinavian Black Metal sound, but instead drawing more inspiration from the Polish scene as well for the Icelandic. The band is currently working on completing their debut-album which will be released in early 2022.

WARFECT (Sweden)

Gothenburg’s Warfect is one of the most convincing but still yet underrated bands in the Swedish Thrash Metal-scene. A real power trio that released their fourth full-length album, “Specter of Devastation” in late 2020 via classic Napalm Records. A band that should fall on the lips of all Thrash Metal fans.

DAEMONICUS (Sweden)

Daemonicus was formed in 2006 and has since then released a bunch of demos as well as a couple of EP:s and three full-length albums.
